How to Set Up an Office Chair and Desk Ergonomically
Hi! Today I will be showing you how to sit at your office desk in a more ergonomic way, helping to support to support your back and improve your work lifestyle. First of all I have to adjust the height of my chair so that my arms are at right-angles to my desk.
.. …my hip joints are higher than my knee joints… …and my feet are supported on the floor. If my feet are not supported on the floor it is recommended that I use a footrest so that my feet are on a firm foundation and supported.
If your desk is too low you can purchase desk raisers which go under each leg to raise the desk to a better height. Next, I move the chair close to the desk and raise the arms to the same level as the desk so that my arms are supported.
After that I bring everything that is important on the desk closer to me so that they are in easy reach. Now I can adjust the screen height so that my eyes are level with the top of the screen… covering a thirty degree range so that I can see everything on the screen.
My monitior is on an adjustable arm enabling it to be set at just the right position. If you don’t have a monitor arm you can buy a monitor stand or even put your monitor onto books or yellow pages. Next time I’m going to show you how to adjust a fully-featured ergonomic office chair.
