Ergonomic Chair Cylinder Removal
Hello and welcome to the Human Solution. Today we’re gonna show you how to remove a cylinder from your chair. You just need a few simple tools that you probably already have laying around your house. First of all, you will need a rubber mallet.
You’ll need a roll of duct tape, a vice grip and maybe some cloth and some cleaner to wipe down the cylinder. The first thing you’ll want to do is raise the seat up as high as it will go, so you have access to the entire cylinder.
And then, you’ll want to lay the chair on its side on a soft surface so you won’t damage or scratch the chair in anyway. The next thing we’ll do is remove the chair’s base. You’ll need the rubber mallet for this and you’ll want to strike the bottom of the cylinder while pulling the base toward you, in order to remove it.
Next, you’ll want to clean off the cylinder and then you’ll wrap it with several layers of duct tape. This is to protect the cylinder and also give you a little bit better traction. (silence) Now, using your vice wrench, you want to get good grip on a cylinder where you placed the tape and applying some force, turn the cylinder counter-clockwise.
Just remember, “lefty, loosey”. Some cylinders can be more stubborn than others. If you have a particularly difficult cylinder, you might try applying some WD-40 and just letting it rest for a couple hours or even overnight and then trying these instructions again.
